Jamie TJAMIE TIJERINA is a Los Angeles-based professional with unique and diverse experience in academic flow cytometry, higher education, and the arts.
She is working directly toward the advancement of science, the arts, and community through her work as a scientific researcher, through involvement in community non-profits, and through civic engagement as a member of the Neighborhood Council system in Los Angeles.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Music and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Drexel University of Philadelphia, PA. She has extensive experience working with nonprofit organizations in higher education and with musical groups managing events, marketing, financial matters, and general operations. She is a mezzo-soprano who has performed at various events in the US and internationally. She was the Webmaster for the all-female a cappella group the Drexel TrebleMakers and Founding Business Manager of Drexel’s first co-ed a cappella group, the Drexel Cleftomaniacs. She competed with the Cleftomaniacs at the ICCA’s in 2014 and in another regional competition later in the year in which the group took first place. She was also co-executive producer on the group’s first studio album, also released in 2014, and was featured as a soloist, arranger, and vocal percussionist.

In flow cytometry, Jamie has spent tenures at major scientific institutions including Caltech, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She is a member of both the International Society for the Advancement of Cytometry (ISAC) and the Southern California Flow Association (SoCalFlow).

IMG_1461JIM DE JOHN has served for 45 years in the healthcare industry in the capacity of Healthcare Executive, Management and Consulting in Institutional Food Service, Materials Management Services, Healthcare Capital Equipment Group Purchasing, and Healthcare Technology Consulting.

His personal interests include choral singing both sacred and secular, guitarist, vocal training in classical and popular music.  He sings with two choral groups for Catholic Church services at Holy Family Church in Glendale, CA and volunteers for church organizations including Holy Family’s parish council and the Knights of Columbus.

Jim is married with two adult children and one grandchild.
